NB Women GO 2020 Grant Procedures

HOW IT WORKS

NB Women GO is a group of women in the New Braunfels area who are united by a common purpose – to make a difference in the lives of others by giving back in our community. Members pool their donations and award grants to New Braunfels area nonprofits on an annual basis.  Members have a direct say in how the grants are awarded by voting on their favorite nonprofits at an annual grant voting event.  75% of the grant pool will be awarded at the April 16th event and 25% goes into the NB Women Go endowment fund so that even more grants can be awarded in future years.

Grant Categories:

Qualified nonprofits can apply in one of the following eight (8) categories:

  • Animal Welfare
  • Arts/Culture
  • Education
  • Family Services-Adult
  • Family Services-Children (majority of population served is age 21 and younger)
  • Family Services-Senior (majority of population served is age 65+)
  • Historic Preservation/Environment
  • Health and Wellness

In addition to the above categories, there may be a “Second Chance” grant, dependent on funding.

Grant Application Process

Applicants will be asked to create a 2-minute video (in YouTube) explaining what they are asking for and why membership should consider awarding them a grant.

Video content must be appropriate for the audience and is subject to NB Women GO Leadership Team review and approval.

Nonprofits should not spend funds on professional grade videos. Videos will be judged on content, not quality. Videos can be shot on iPhone and must be submitted via a YouTube link.

Grant applicants will still need to fill out a grant application and submit the video with the given timeline.  NB Women GO reserves the right to reject applications that do not reflect that the nonprofit serves a population within New Braunfels or Comal County.

NB Women GO will utilize a voting system that uses smart phones or other personal devices to do real time voting.  Recipients will be determined immediately once the voting has concluded.

Requirements:

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that serve in one of the above categories in the City of New Braunfels or Comal County are invited to apply
  • Grant recipients cannot reapply the following year after receiving a grant, but may apply again two years after receiving a grant.
  • Applications must be completed online at www.nbcommunityfoundation.org.
  • Deadline: 5 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020.

In the event that a category receives more than five applications, NB Women GO members may review and evaluate applications to select finalists in that category.

In the event that a category receives fewer than three applications, the NB Women GO Leadership Team reserves the right to merge that category into another category receiving few applications.

NB Women GO members in good standing will vote on the final award recipients at the grant-voting event, or they may submit an absentee ballot in advance.

Only NB Women GO members, NBCF staff and persons approved by the leadership team in advance may attend the voting event.

Award Notification:

Award recipients will be notified by phone or email by an NB Women GO Leadership Team member or staff.
